How to Get Started Freelancing

Submitting Custom Introductions

Best practices on introducing yourself to clients.

Last updated on 30 Jun, 2022

Once you've requested a ticket and are introduced to the client, it's best practice to submit a custom pitch explaining why you're a great fit for the work.

We've found that clients tend to pass on freelancers if they get introductions and/or see profiles that don't match up to the request that they submitted.

While it takes a few extra minutes to customize your pitch, it can really make you stand out and impress. Isn't that what we all want?

Here's a couple of quick tips...

  1. Clients expect a custom introduction that addresses why you're a great fit for the specific job posting.

  2. Clients tend to check your FreeUp profile and want to see examples of work relevant to the ticket. If you need help updating your profile, we are happy to help.

  3. Clients typically do not like to see intros with a full rundown of all your possible skills and services. They prefer intros that only directly talk about why you are a good fit for the specific ticket they posted.

  4. Send your introduction not only via email, but through the Messenger System too.

Following these simple best practices can increase your chances of landing more clients through the FreeUp Marketplace.
